WELCOME TO ANOMALOUS STORIES
what is anomalous stories?
Well… to put it simply: it’s a blog. Thanks for reading, we’ll see you next time!
But seriously: it’s more than a blog. Anomalous Stories is an online extension of our space, and a platform to share our stories.
The voice of Anomalous Space
My name is Amber, and I’ve been the manager of Anomalous Space since Summer 2023. We’ve undergone a serious amount of expansion since I joined the team: we’re four new spaces bigger and have big plans for 2024.
Since joining Anomalous, I have fallen in love with both the space and its values. I’ve stumbled upon a dream job in contributing to its evolution.
I come from a hospitality background, so my creativity has been lying dormant for a while. (If you know, you know). I’ve always had a passion for writing, an interest in people and a ridiculously honest voice. So running a creative event space seemed like a pretty good fit.
A peek inside one of London’s most unique venues
Anomalous has a remarkable physical entity, but what we lack is a more robust online presence.
This year, we are focusing more on our key values of connecting people, encouraging creativity and facilitating impactful change. Our spaces are ideal in fulfilling these core beliefs, but they can only reach a certain amount of people.
A digital space can reach much further — and stories seem to be the best way for us to connect with others.
So, Anomalous Stories is here to:
1. Capture the knowledge of brilliant people through client interviews
Our unique spaces host minds from a spectrum of backgrounds, industries and areas of expertise. We have access to such a variety of people; why not take a sneak peek inside their minds and share it with our community, in a uniquely inquisitive and explorative way.
Whether it be industry advice, story-telling from their own experience or highlighting specific issues or events, these create a valuable hub of information to inspire others.
2. OPEN UP CONVERSATIONS & DISCUSSIONS ON THOUGHT-PROVOKING IDEAS
Anomalous challenges convention, our stories will be a platform to discuss topics that matter to us; topics that we can then celebrate and explore in both our virtual and physical spaces.
We want to stimulate conversation around important subjects and encourage you to engage, comment and react. We want to hear your take.
Blogs are often designed to make money. This blog aims to build community.
3. BE honest
One of our powers as a small business is our unwavering and unapologetic urge to be ourselves. To be honest. And this project will be no different.
In our mission to connect people and facilitate change, I’ll be documenting my experience as a venue manager: the good, the bad and the ugly. I suppose I’ll use this blog as a form of therapy and through my vulnerability, perhaps I'll inspire others to realise it’s okay to be the same.
4. Evolve our concept
Change is born from connection. Connection starts with a space. We have that space, now we want to take things further by building a community around care, culture and conversation.
ASC: Anomalous Social Club is our new initiative launching parallel to Anomalous Stories. This community-focused event series aims to create meaningful connection and impactful change.
We’re a small but mighty business working to create positive space amidst the chaos of life, one small initiative at a time. Check back in next Monday for an official introduction to Anomalous Social Club, and how you can get involved.
