Brief: Waltham Forest was the first ever London Borough of Culture. To showcase and celebrate this much loved corner of east London, Welcome to the Forest festival was created.
Response: With a focus on managing street performances and audio visual installations Anomalous worked with festival curators Continental Drifts to transform the local roads into a neon-lit, celebratory winter carnival. At nearby Lloyd Park The Nest was built by artists Marshmallow Laser Feast who displayed an epic lighting installation choreographed to a transcendental soundscape by composer Erland Cooper .
Elsewhere at the sprawling event a large scale 3D mapped projection show transformed Waltham Forest Town Hall. Created by artists Greenaway & Greenaway and Mercury Music Prize-winning musician and producer Talvin Singh the high energy audio-visual installation told the story of the borough through the eyes of its diverse communities. The Town Hall also hosted a bespoke video commission from local electronic duo Addictive TV who presented a unique piece of sampled music.
